Advantages and disadvantages

Nowadays E-commerce has revolutionized the history of the business globally through online platforms bringing many advantages and disadvantages in the process. In this post will be listed some of the advantages and disadvantages of E-commerce. Online stores bring more comfort to people giving the possibility to evaluate, compare and buy products without leaving home.

In addition, E-commerce also has many advantages for companies, such as the promotion of their products, lower costs for the company, more control over the products and better monitoring of the company (Corp, 2022).

Despite being very advantageous, E-commerce has many negative points, that is, disadvantages for the consumer as well as for companies.

One of the main disadvantages of buying online is the inability to touch the product or feel the quality of the material, lack of personal touch, putting it more simple, being unable to have direct contact with the seller or store assistant. Moreover the product return process in case the customer changes his mind is more complex, often forcing the consumer to keep the product against his will, Another fact to remember is that online shopping allows consumers to easily make price comparisons causing increased competitiveness.

Based on the idea that E-commerce works from online platforms, it is a disadvantage for some people, as they need to have an internet connection to access these stores, another disadvantage is the lack of knowledge about technology.

Being a victim of fraud can be one of the disadvantages of hoping online. When we introduce some of our personal data on internet to make some kind of payment, we become vulnerable and can be victims of fraud as well as a hacker attack. This can also be disadvantageous for companies as it will decrease the customers' confidence in making online purchases (Topper, 2022).
